A BUS DRIVER from Newbury has picked up the bronze medal in an internal company competition.
Liz Carter placed third in Reading Buses 'Bus Driver of the Year Competition' for her public transport work centred around the Newbury depot.
The 41 year old, who has been working for the company for three years, was praised by Reading Buses Chief Executive Officer Martijn Gilbert.
He said: “It was a fantastic performance by Liz to finish third.
“The standard of our internal competition was very high and she did herself, and the Newbury depot, very proud. It was a pleasure to present her with her third place certificate at the depot.”
He went on to say: “Part of having drivers like Liz competing to go to the Bus Driver of the Year competition is to ensure that we are constantly promoting high driving standards.
“We want to continually improve, reduce accidents, raise fleet presentation standards and give our customers comfortable and safe journeys. This all starts, of course, with the driver.
“Having people like Liz who we can role model as great drivers shows all our brilliant driving staff the right way to do things.”
