Former darts world champion Bob Anderson attended an event in Reading last week, hosted by Mr Peter Bush in memory of his wife.

The evening saw supporters win the chance to play a game of darts with the sportsman, raising more than £1,200 for the Sue Ryder charity.

Mr Bush, 69, decided to hold the event after Sue Ryder supported him through the “hardest time of his life” when his wife, Audrey, died end of cancer last year.

“I was able to stay with Audrey at West Berkshire Community Hospital where she was cared for by Sue Ryder Nurses. We were treated with nothing but kindness,” Mr Bush says.

Mr Bush also uses the charity’s Grief Space in Thatcham to talk about his experience of grief.

On the event, Mr Bush said “Bob Anderson was very good, I enjoyed playing against him, although he didn’t go easy on me!”
