Since the cost of living crisis started deeply affecting UK households we have noticed a rise in the price of food and drink.
But one Whitley eatery might be taking things a step too far - advertising a slice of cheesecake for nearly £500.
Deliveroo users spotted a listing on The Hangout Kitchen’s page charging £455 for a strawberry cheesecake on Deliveroo.
While thr Cressingham Road diner has not yet responded for comment, it is highly likely the price has been listed in error. Unless the pudding contains a solid gold coin or two.
Alongside burgers priced at £6.50, tandoori fish for £9, and chicken doner for £7.80, the takeaway has many items with much more ordinary prices.
Given their chocolate fudge cake is priced at £4.55, it is very possible that the admin team at Hangout Kitchen may have just made a slight mistake here.
Nevertheless, customers should be warned to double check their baskets before accidently spending half a grand on a sweet treat.
