EMMBROOK & Bearwood crashed out of the Premier Division as their faint hopes of staying up were ended with a 90-run defeat at third-placed Sulhamstead, writes Richard Ashton.

Muhammed Hafeez smashed a brutal 53-ball century before closing on 138 not out from just 74 balls in Sulhamstead’s total of 207-3 in 25 overs.

And apart from Sean Woodward (47), there was little resistance from the Bears as Doug Macdonald (5-33) took his wicket tally to 30 for the season in helping bowl the visitors out for 117.

Adam Davidson scored a majestic 128 before champions West Reading saw their game at home to Welford Park abandoned.

Davidson – the second top scorer in the league with 799 runs – was aided by Zafar Ali (76) in taking Wests to 251-3 off 40.2 overs before the rain arrived.

Fergus Nutt (116no), Wynand Lamprecht and the season’s highest scorer Dan Hayden (40, 807 for the campaign) all starred as runners-up Peppard Stoke Row amassed 271-2 in 42 overs at home to Woodley.

Alex Sykes (98no) led the way for Crowthorne & Crown Wood as they totalled 232-9 against Woodcote, Paul Knox (3-27) and Raja Rafaqat (3-58) the pick of the bowlers.

Vijay Srinivasan (62) and Sufian Sanik (51) impressed in Ruislip Victoria’s score of 175-8 off 30 overs at Mortimer West End (53-1), with the abandonment consigning the hosts to a bottom-place finish.

Division One champions Berkshire County Sports were denied victory by the weather at Ibis Mapledurham.

Kashif Mehmood (71no) and Sohail Abbas (53) inspired BCS to 173-3 in 25 overs, with Chad Cudjoe (3-34) the star with the ball.

Saqib Hussain (3-28) and Mohammed Farooq (3-34) proved too good for the hosts’ batting line-up as Ibis were reduced to 83-7 in 17 overs before the rain arrived.

Sandhurst finished as runners-up after their game at Checkendon (182) was called off between innings.

Third-placed West Reading 2nds escaped defeat in their game at Bradfield.

Captain Usman Ali made 45 in Wests’ total of 179, but Paul Hale’s unbeaten 79 had Bradfield on track (165-4) before the weather prevailed.

Keerthi Prakash blasted 94 for Sulhamstead 2nds as they reached 189-9 after 41.3 overs, at which point their game with relegated Stratfield Turgis was abandoned. Tom Clay took 6-41 for the hosts.

Hawley conceded their game at Goring-on-Thames.

Peppard Stoke Row 2nds finished runners-up in Division Two after their game at Emmbrook & Bearwood 2nds was called off.

Simon Gozzard (84no) had put the visitors in a reasonable position at 210-8 before the rain arrived.

Ankush Ghandi (111no) and Wasim Javed (104no) both hit centuries as Waltham St Lawrence hammered a massive 369-1 at home to Crowthorne & Crown Wood 2nds, Lee Capeling (61no) and captain Ravi Sainani (55no) also among the runs.

Andy Tutty (89no) helped Sandhurst 2nds score 182-4 in 30 overs, with Earley’s run chase ended on 88-1 after 19 overs.

Twyford & Ruscombe were crowned Division Three champions after their game at Welford Park 2nds (148-7 from 33 overs) was called off.

Ashley Gander starred with bat and ball to inspire Warfield to a nine-wicket destruction of West Reading 3rds, confirming their position as runners-up.

The all rounder claimed 6-13 in 10 overs as Wests were skittled for just 76, and Gander then smashed 45 not out off 33 balls to hustle his side to victory in 12.2 overs.

That result left Woodley 2nds in third after their home game against Mortimer West End 2nds was abandoned. Upendra Deshpande (63) and Anish Pandey (52) helped the hosts post 225, and MWE were 72-2 after 13 overs when the rain set in.

Tejpal Singh blasted a staggering 180 as Purley-on-Thames 3rds knocked up 306-3 declared in 36.2 overs against rock bottom Sulhamstead 3rds, while Ruislip Victoria 2nds conceded their game against Knowl Hill.

Bradfield 2nds are the Division Four champions after Hawley 2nds conceded their encounter.

Peppard Stoke Row 3rds remain second after their home clash with Shinfield 2nds was called off.

PSR – who need to take 12 points from their re-arranged game at Waltham St Lawrence 2nds this Saturday to finish as runners-up –were bowled out for 162 as Hassan Safdar claimed 4-25. In reply, the visitors were 35-2 after 10 overs when the game was abandoned.

Waltham St Lawrence 2nds had the better of the draw in their 25-overs-a-side game at Emmbrook & Bearwood 3rds.

Saints made 142-8, before Haris Khan bagged 5-13 in the hosts’ total of 124-8.
