BERKS County FC picked up their first win of the Premier Division season with a 2-1 home success against Taplow United last Wednesday, writes Richard Ashton.

Ryan Barry gave the visitors a 30th-minute lead, but Shaun Andrews levelled after the break before Anton Hill grabbed the winner at the death.

The Swords were brought back down to earth on Saturday when they were beaten 2-1 by Woodcote Stoke Row.

Ryan Corbett put WSR in front only for Sean Dennison to level almost immediately, but Toby Nowell’s 41st-minute strike secured the points.

That was a third straight win for Ross Weatherstone’s men, with a Nowell hat-trick and a Jake Dillon penalty giving them a 4-0 win against Newbury last Wednesday.

Liam Bushay and James Williams goals gave table-topping Marlow United a 2-1 win at Wraysbury Village last Wednesday, Richard Bond scoring for the hosts.

And the leaders made it five wins from five on Saturday with a 5-1 demolition of home side Hurst. Bushay and Qwamani Thomas both bagged braces and Andrew Nichol was also on target, while Rory Stagg got the consolation.

Free-scoring Reading YMCA sit second after beating Taplow 3-1, a Dan Donegan double and a Mark Lemm effort sealing the points. Michael Fountain netted for Taplow.

The Young Men had routed Hurst 8-0 last Wednesday, with Ryan Adams getting four, Donegan a brace and Jordan Cox and Jonny Adey completing the demolition.

Daniel Hunt scored twice for third-placed Cookham Dean in their 2-2 draw at Highmoor Ibis Reserves, Lemar Maycock and Anthony Alleyne on target for the hosts.

Hunt had also scored twice in the 4-1 win against Woodley United Reserves, with Kai Smith and Paul Sharpe also on the scoresheet. Adam King netted a 90th-minute consolation for Woodley.

Mortimer have dropped to fourth after losing 4-2 at Wraysbury Village on the back of a 2-2 home draw against Rotherfield United, while Unity won 2-1 at Highmoor Ibis Reserves.
