HUNGERFORD Town had to settle for a share of the spoils in their 1-1 draw at Margate in National League South on Saturday.

The Crusaders started well as Scott Donnelly shot wide following an early Margate corner, while Nat Jarvis was off target when put through by James Clark.

It was no surprise when Stefan Brown scored after 17 minutes, finishing off a good move with a clinical finish to give Hungerford a deserved lead.

Margate levelled after 53 minutes though, when Elliott Buchanan unleashed an unstoppable 25-yard free-kick.

Luke Williams and Clark hit the bar for the visitors, although Hungerford were fortunate Buchanan shot wide in injury time as the home side threatened to snatch the winner.

Hungerford – who have signed in-form Reading FC and England international Nicky Shorey – travel to Westminster Swifts on Saturday (2.30pm) and Weston-super-Mare next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Jemel Johnson and James Tennant both hit braces and Callum Willmoth and Mark Hughes were also on target as Thatcham Town thrashed Brackley Town Saints 6-0 in the Hellenic League Premier Division.

Thatcham visit Brimscombe & Thrupp on Saturday (3pm) and Binfield next Monday (7.45pm).

Newbury were thumped 4-0 at Woodcote Stoke Row in the Thames Valley League Premier Division ahead of a trip to Woodley United Reserves on Saturday (2pm).
