HUNGERFORD Town reached the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 success at Basingstoke Town.

Both goalkeepers had to be on their toes during an open first half, but it was the Crusaders who took a 39th-minute lead from the penalty spot, Stefan Brown netting coolly after Nat Jarvis was brought down.

There were few real chances in the second period, although George Hallahan missed one to force a replay late on.

Hungerford host Hampton & Richmond Borough in National South this Saturday (3pm).

Thatcham Town

THATCHAM Town’s Shane Cooper-Clark scored a hat-trick – including one penalty – to help his side earn a 3-3 draw at Thame United in their Hellenic League Premier Division clash on Saturday.

The in-form hitman’s efforts were matched by Thame striker Andy Gledhill though, with 70th-minute spot-kick earning a share of the spoils for his side.

But Kingfishers followed that with a 3-1 defeat to Royal Wootton Bassett Town at Waterside Park on Tuesday night.

Thatcham went in front thanks to a Dan Comer own goal.

But that's as good as it got for them on the night as a Dale Richerds brace and Henry Spalding strike sealed the win for the visitors.

Thatcham visit Ascot United on Saturday (3pm) and Flackwell Heath next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Newbury FC

DANNY Collins and Aaron Susans were on target for Newbury FC as they defeated Unity 2-0 in the Thames Valley Premier League.

Newbury host Hurst this coming Saturday (2pm).

Newbury Ladies

NEWBURY Ladies FC defeated Chinnor Ladies 6-2 to reach the SSE Women's FA Cup third qualifying round.

Newbury, using Kintbury Rangers as their home ground for the clash, secured their first victory of the season in sensational style.

Amy McNab fired Newbury in front only for Chinnor to equalise soon after.

Bex Walker regained the lead for Newbury with a smart finish then Kendall Gilmour netted to put the hosts 3-1 up at the interval.

Ellie Reed added a fourth goal early in the second half then Walker grabbed her second of the day as Newbury led 5-1.

Chinnor did reduce the deficit following some suspect Newbury defending, but there was still time for the home side to score a sixth thanks to McNab.

Newbury will now host Hertford Town on October 9 in the third qualifying round.
