MID-TABLE Falkland enjoyed a comfortable 92-run win at home to Marlow in their Thames Valley League Division One encounter, writes Max Baker-Smith.

Falkland amassed runs at a good rate, with Jim Ettridge and Saranga Rajaguru (both 43) top scoring, before they eventually declared on 247-8, Jeremy Batty (6-93) the pick of the Marlow bowlers.

Rajaguru (5-63) then starred with the ball for the hosts as eventually bowled Marlow out for 155.

Falkland visit basement boys Windsor on Saturday (12.30pm).

In Division 2b, Thatcham Town recorded a comfortable 123-run victory against High Wycombe 2nds.

Peter Spriggs (62) led the way for Thatcham as they posted 227-9, before Chris Bird (6-42) helped bowl High Wycombe out for 104.

Thatcham visit rock bottom Chiswick & Whitton this Saturday (12.30pm).

Newbury made it six games unbeaten as they beat Reading 2nds by nine wickets in Division 3a.

Charlie Anstey (5-47) was the pick of the Newbury bowlers as they bowled their opponents out in quick time for 130.

Anstey (64no) then starred with the bat as Newbury comfortably knocked off their target.

Falkland 2nds were also victorious, beating Yateley 2nds by four wickets.

Yateley reached 238-8 before they declared, a decision their skipper would grow to regret, as David Bloor (82) led a superb Falkland batting performance as they reached their target in the 50th over. In Division 4b, Thatcham Town 2nds drew with Chiswick and Whitton 2nds.

Thatcham declared on 265-9 after 51 overs, but their attempts to bowl the hosts out were in vain as Chiswick ended on 225-8.

Falkland 3rds lost to Sonning 2nds by 96 runs in Division 5b.

Hasnein Akram (73) helped Sonning total252-8, and despite Sunil Sharma’s (70no) best efforts, Falkland were bowled out for 156.

Thatcham Town 3rds overcame Yateley 3rds by four wickets in Division 7a. Paul Freeman (62) top scored for Yateley as they decided to declare on 243-7 after just 46 overs, but Michael Hobbs (84no) batted well for Thatcham and was there at the end to see his side across the line in just the 36th over.

Newbury 2nds (87-1) won by nine wickets at Eversley 4ths (86) in Division 8a.

In Division 9a, Richard Lavender made 52 for Thatcham Town 4ths (174), but they lost to Maidenhead & Bray 4ths (178-4) by six wickets.
